You can now administer the CARE2 on line at http://care2systems.com.  The CARE-2 (Child & Adolescent Risk Evaluation) Assessment by Dr. Kathy Seifert works to identify youth who are at risk for violence and determines specific interventions needed to prevent any future risk of aggressive behavior. Updated and enhanced, this invaluable tool examines every factor that may be affecting the youth's development, and puts a plan in place for the youth to mature into a positively pro-social functioning member of society.

Snow

It has finally stopped snowing and we are digging out. It has been tough this week for lots of people living in the Mid-Atlantic states. Being out of their routine can be fun for a while, but then, it gets old and people get stressed. Even if you like being off from work, it is important to find time to de-stress from this massive storm. Going back to a regular routine, despite being off from work can be helpful to many folks.

I just signed a contract to write a new book on youth violence for Springer Publishing. This will be more like a text book. They want 400 pages. Guess I will be busy for a while.

Beating Negative thinking

Three people came to me this week because they were upset by their own negative thinking. I suggested that when negative thinking takes over their minds, try to find balance by thinking about or writing down the positive things in their lives. We can all get discouraged sometimes. We forget how far we have come in other ways. We need to remind ourselves of the other side of the coin. The glass is not just half empty, it is also half full. remember the whole glass to balance positive and negative.

When a negative mood comes along. You can also just notice the mood knowing that it will pass and you will feel better in a few minutes. So just notice the bad mood and let it pass.

Finding time for myself

I have been trying to be better at finding time for myself and my family. So we went to blockbusters and got a couple of movies and spent time on the Wii fit. This has been a very fun way to spend time with the family and no, I am not getting paid to endorse it.
